2019 Year End Review

2019 and Beyond

As 2019 comes to a close, I wanted to reflect and give thanks for all this year has brought to Morningside Acupuncture. I am grateful for all of my patients since they allow me to practice acupuncture and Chinese medicine in my own way. I learn and grow from each unique case both as an acupuncturist and as a person.

The most common conditions I’ve treated this year include:

  1. Low back pain

  2. Upper back pain

  3. Hip pain

  4. Shoulder pain

  5. IT band syndrome

This list comprises some of the most commons reasons that people seek acupuncture treatments. The last complaint on the list is probably there since I treat a number of runners and soccer players where this type of thing comes up (more common in runners).

NYC marathon season brought several cases IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, peroneal tendinitis, runners knee, and lots of glute tightness.  I’m happy that all of my patients made it through the marathon and was honored to be part of their training and post-race recovery process.

This coming year I am deepening my specialization in pain and stress-related disorders in a number of ways. The first is by continuing to explore how pain and the nervous system interact to identify ways acupuncture and Chinese medicine can treat these issues in a holistic and integrative way. Another will be via continued electro-acupuncture training to enhance my current treatment methods for pain, stress & anxiety, digestive issues, and insomnia.

Additionally,  I will be refining my palpatory and muscle release techniques by training with an acupuncturist who treats NFL players.  This area of my practice is already one that sets me apart from many other acupuncturists as it provides me with the tools to identify areas of muscle tension and the source of many cases of musculoskeletal pain.

I look forward to connecting with other healthcare professionals like orthopedic doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, personal trainers, and psychologists in the coming year to help provide patients with comprehensive care that will keep them out of pain for as long as possible.

Sincerely,
Teddy
